Beyond Subjectivity: How AI, Measurement-Based Care and Data Integration Care Can Transform Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Care
Presented by Tom Zaubler, MD, MPH, DLFAPA, DFAPM
Dr. Zaubler is founder and medical director of Pegasus Psychiatry Association in Morristown, NJ, is chief medical officer for NeuroFlow, a clinical professor of psychiatry at Sidney Kimmel Medical college at Thomas Jefferson University and was Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Morristown Medical Center for 21 years.
This talk will explore how measurement – based care, AI-powered clinical decision support and predictive analytics can help behavioral health providers move beyond subjective assessments to more precise data-informed interventions. Such AI and data-driven technologies are transforming behavioral healthcare by improving objectivity, scalability, and early risk detection, reducing administrative burden and finding early warning signs of suicide risk, thereby leading to better outcomes.
Learning Objective -- Participants will be able to:
1. Describe the limitations of traditional behavioral health assessments and how measurement-based care (MBC) enhances objectivity.
2. Identify strategies for integrating MBC into routine practice.
3. Explain how AI can improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce subjectivity and improve clinical decision making.
4. Identify how passive data collection contribute to comprehensive patient monitoring outside of visits.
5. Discuss the role of digital CBT in enhancing patient engagement between sessions.
6. Evaluate how AI augmented suicide risk detection tools can improve crisis interventions particularly in marginalized communities.
This program is intended for psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, and graduate students. It will be presented at an intermediate level, meant for those with some prior knowledge of the subject matter. The presenters receive no commercial support and report no conflicts of interest regarding this presentation.
