Stories of Self:  The Art of Gender Exploration and Trans-Affirming Practices

Presented by Kyle Rundles, PsyD

Dr.  Rundles is a clinical psychologist in Morristown, NJ.  She specializes in in working with identity, transitions, and cultural/systemic issues.

This talk will introduce the broad concept of using affirmation as intervention to improve client outcomes.  The presentation will discuss basic clinical skills in exploring gender diversity and identity with clients, as well as updating practice documentation to be trans-affirming. 

                                        

Learning Objective     --   Participants will be able to:

1.     Identify trans-affirming ways to discuss gender identity with clients.
2.     Identify ways to update documentation and paperwork to be more trans-inclusive from the first interaction.
3.     Discuss ways in which documentation impacts our clients, particularly for stigmatized populations. 

This program is intended for psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, and graduate students. It will be presented at an intermediate level, meant for those with some prior knowledge of the subject matter. The presenters receive no commercial support and report no conflicts of interest regarding this presentation.

Cost:          MCPA member zoom or in person with buffet breakfast                $22

                      Non-member zoom or in person with buffet breakfast                   $29

Breakfast will be from 9:00 – 9:30 providing a chance to network with colleagues and students. The presentation will follow from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  To receive CE credit, attendees must register and pay for CE credits prior to the start of the program.

NJPA is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  NJPA maintains responsibility for this program and its content. The program is approved for 1.0 CE credit. The cost of a CE Certificate is $15 for NJPA members, and $40 for non-members.
